Hello
From Kellie and Herbs & Things.
“Trust instinct to the end, even though you can give no reason.”
'Ralph Waldo Emerson'
I've been busy water bath canning, jams, cucumber and corn relishes, pickled beets, peaches, peach salsa, tomato salsa, corn salsa, pickled peppers, chili sauce...getting all those items done with a water bath, with a few pressure canning items such as beans, corn and carrots in between. Soon it will be mostly pressure canning, meats, soup stock, more beans, potatoes and maybe try canning squash this year instead of freezing it?
I did a, ferment for two weeks in brine, dill pickles: first time ever.
I followed the recipe in the ball canning book. First fermenting them two weeks, then following the instructions of straining, boiling and using the liquid the cucumbers were fermented in and pouring it over the pickles and processing them in the water bath.
When it was done, I wasn't sure I should have followed the instructions and used the same liquid. Turning my nose up at how they looked, I figured I wasted my time and cucumbers; the liquid was not clear like you see in the store. It was cloudy and not as appealing as I would have liked. But..I stuck a jar in the frig, chilled, opened, tasted..and what a surprise they are delicious. Not as crisp as a store bought Valasic, but crisp enough to go crunch...Plus they are one of those good for you fermented foods! Thus I hope they store well because I'm going to do more, but thin sliced dills, instead of spears; if I'm not to late to get more cucumbers that is. I think mine are pretty much done.
I'm excited, the broccoli from the garden is awesome. I froze a good amount of the nice green healthy stuff. Also the potatoes are coming nicely. I sacrificed a few by harvesting a couple plants before the vines died back to see how they were coming. If they keep growing the way they are, they will be beautiful. I used the sacrificial potatoes in soup and they were yummo! Sometimes it's hard being patient while waiting for them to mature...but...I really have no choice if I want a good potato:), and I have more beans coming.
I've notice more bees in the garden, which makes my heart happy. They are loving the late bean, pumpkin, squash, and eggplant flowers, along with the borage in random places.
It 'feels' like my Geraniums, Marigolds, Morning Glories and Black Eyed Susans, are bringing forth messages as they are all beautiful this year and I'm drawn to them every time I pass or walk through them.

Geraniums key note is...new happiness and vitality, take advantage of new opportunities
Morning Glory brings a message of break old habits... be spontaneous.
Marigold says Words have healing powers
and Black Eye Susan tells me, Change is close and must properly be initiated and the hidden revealed...
These messages all makes sense, with the Angelic season of Virgo upon us, what I was 'told', and what I have planned. So exciting. Yes read on.
August 29th is a full Super or Perigee moon. (when the Moon is nearest to Earth in its orbit) A full moon raises the tides and a Perigee moon even more so. Thus, I would think, because a full moon can raise what's hidden in our subconscious, that a Super-moon could bring thoughts or memories from our deeper subconscious closer to the surface, and hopefully give us a deeper knowledge of who we are and where we are or the directions we should take.
Fall is a favorite season of mine, and though technically it is not fall yet, our senses are already picking up on the energy that comes with the fall season .
Intensifying this energy will be the tide rising energy of the Supermoon, and that we've also entered the Virgo time of summer.
This is when the angels of Virgo help awaken our magical sparks, and find the meaning to confusing life situations. They bring wisdom and inspire while giving us the ability to organize and outline steps to improve our health and life. They also help us learn patience and understanding, and give us the wisdom of knowing the magic of knowledge. I just love wisdom and knowledge...two favorites of mine to go along with a favorite season.
If you spend any time outside you must have noticed how quiet it's gotten in the past 3-4 weeks... as if the summer birds have migrated already. The Red Wing Blackbirds have been gone from around here for at least a month. The barn swallows that usually are still here have been gone for over a week, the Killdeers left early too. I've not seen or heard bluebirds in a while either. I did hear one Robin over a week ago, but not any more, and have you noticed the Crows acting different all summer in their actions and voices. They are being up close and personal too, looking right at me and allowing me to be within a few feet from them, then only sauntering as they move away. They too I think bring messages to us. We just need to 'listen'.
Crow's medicine or message, is about good luck, manifesting, magic, creation, protection, family, communication, predicting the weather and what is to come. Also helping one to know how to adjust their life to live with these changes..
Crows message then makes sense too with what I heard while mowing last week.
Unfortunately, I think the quiet and the birds leaving early(which I was told they would the end of June) is nature's confirmation not only of what I heard while mowing last week, but also (looking back at my 'note' journal) what I heard on May 26th 2015, after noticing all the pine cones on the trees.
"Pine cone feed the deer, harsh winter coming".
Oh great, I remember thinking, it's only May, summers not even here yet and 'they' are telling me about the coming winter...tharwat.)
Anyhow, moving forward, Monday August 24th while mowing...and this isn't going to be what you want to hear...there was a simple message.
"Stock up on Meat and Potatoes".
I thought oh no, the stock up thing again, and the message 'feels' like an urgency is attached to it. As if we only have the rest of August and the month of September to get what they said to do... done. Then this week with the stock market crashing gave me a better understanding of what they also showed me when they sent this message. They showed me a vision of the gas rations of the 1970's and people in lines.
Concerned...I asked if something was going to happen with Rick again or me? I don't think so...It 'feels' more like it will be weather related, and also a shortage of foods and provisions for other reasons (not clear). This rationing, 'feels' like it's symbolizing shortage not only with gas but foods and supplies in general...and it may last maybe 3-6 months?
I'm getting a bit better at this 'hearing' thing, because when I heard "Stock up on Meat and Potatoes" I asked if they meant literally or metaphorically.
I'm pretty sure it means both. The literal of course is to stock up on meat and potatoes:) Metaphorically speaking...I was reminded that 'back in the day' (ha ha..an age joke I think) when someone referred to the Meat and Potatoes of a meal or anything...it referred to a meal of the simple basic foods, and/ or having enough basic fundamentals to live on.
So just in case I heard and interpreted this message correctly, I will act accordingly, and start gathering the basic foods, as well as the basic fundamental supplies. Thus you do the same according to your needs.
