I've notice, over the past few weeks, it's like many want to by-pass the idea, or event of Thanksgiving, as visual and audial moved the focus from Halloween right into Christmas. 

I do get it though. To many small businesses are still trying to recoup after shut downs, people are still trying to get back on their feet, only to have the rug pulled out again. Some are still coping with losses of family, friends, a pet, jobs, homes,  the American way of life. Far to many can't afford to buy groceries, pay their mortgages or bills and the list can go on. With out question this is a sad thing to see or experience. Thus many can't see what there is to be Thankful for amidst  all of this, other than 2020 is over soon and 2021 will be better. So for many, if we move right into Christmas and maybe skip the thankful season it will diminish the fear, angst, and frustration we are feeling and our expectations won't be deluded again

But...2020 a year and a Thanksgiving like no other, in its frustrating manner, can bring in a new level of thankfulness, even though it may be a Thanksgiving accented with depleted expectations, worries, and even anger.

Being thankful in the midst of turmoil, loss, anger and sadness, is good for the body, soul and mind. 
This does not mean you cannot be sad, angry or frustrated, it's OK to feel all of that, but because being thankful brings a whole different perspective that sheds light on so much, ultimately the moment spent in thanks can find the good within the bad.

2020, if you look close has taught and made so many of us see how much and what there is to be Thankful for; lessons we should not dismiss or throw away because it's been, to say the least, a difficult year in more ways than anyone could imagine.

Because this year is do different in many ways, maybe if we start reflecting on what Thanksgiving originally was suppose to be about and apply this to the year 2020 it may give more light on many things.

Thanksgiving is rooted in the autumnal harvest celebrations held for centuries by indigenous peoples to celebrate the season’s bounty, or After European settlers arrived in the early 17th century, communities in Massachusetts and Virginia separately came together similarly to give thanks for their continued survival and the fertility of their fields. The “first” Thanksgiving is typically attributed to the feast shared between the Pilgrims in Plymouth, Massachusetts, and the people of the Wampanoag tribe. A feast lasting 3 days between 2 very different peoples.

With this in mind, often our thanksgiving feast  and celebration forms around the hustle bustle of baking, cooking, who to invite. the making of the perfect dinner, most of which is purchased at a store. When we finally sit down to eat, thankfulness is dimmed and dinner revolves around eating turkey, pie and watching football and sometimes forgetting the real meaning of it, which is giving Thanks of what we have at this time; blessings, big and small, even though they may be speckled within the obstacles, we've received through the year. Giving Thanks is shedding light  on those speckles  amid the obstacles.

Then comes the year of 2020 and the way you prepare for Thanksgiving and giving thanks is very different. Maybe for the first time in a long time just the way you look at  your Thanksgiving dinner is seen in a whole new perspective of Thanks.

Such as, maybe in your 2020 Thanksgiving, some of what is on your dinner table is from your garden or something you learned to can or dehydrate; a special something to be thankful for?
As you look at your table you remember the joy of your garden and the gifts off the vines, the suns warmth and breeze that touched your skin; were you able to share some of your harvest with someone? This is something to be thankful for.
Were you at the receiving end of this garden sharing? This is something to be Thankful for.
Maybe the turkey, chicken or ham in the center of your table is what you raised; something to be thankful for? 
Are the herbs and spices used to make this dinner tasty and aromatic, grown with your care and love? Something to be Thankful for.
Is the bread, pies or desserts, on your table or you are sharing, home made because in 2020, you learned to make bread from scratch or make pie crust like grandma did, or create that very different dessert that Aunt Nelly made; lessons you learned this year? Something to be thankful for. 
Maybe you are having a smaller dinner but still with some family...still something to be thankful for.
Maybe all of your family and friends, so far have been safe from Covid, or if some one did get it they survived... something to be Thankful for.

Maybe you've decided to dine alone or with just a couple people and have chosen not have or attend the big traditional family dinner and even though you may not be able to spend the day face to face, around the table, you can still be thankful that you can still let your family and friends know, in  a big or small way, that you love and are thankful for them, because of modern technology. Whether via Phone,  Zoom,  Face-time, Texting, Emailing,  Skyping, in a Prayer, or what ever, looking at the bigger picture, you'll find you really do have something within this chaotic year of 2020 and at this moment to be thankful for.

Today, tomorrow, next week, next month and next year, set aside your worries, or frustrations of 2020, and look back over the year, the obstacles and what and where ever it brought  you,  the good and bad and be thankful for what you have learned, the wisdom you have gained, and the new deeper appreciation of so many things you may have taken for granted before. 

When giving thanks in this 2020 Thanksgiving, do not see all the wrong things of this year and how different it is...see instead all the things that are good in spite of 'all things' 2020.

Me...I have much to be thankful for. Beyond my husband, home, gardens, family and friends, what I have to be  most thankful for is YOU.
All of YOU.

Thank YOU for reading my ramblings. Thank YOU for trusting me enough to allow me into your world. Thank YOU for stopping in to Herbs & Things. Thank YOU for helping me and others in keeping the light of hope, faith, healing alive in the heart and soul of you, others, and Mother Earth. Thank you for staying  connected to Mother Earth and working to keep yours and others Divine source in tact.

Thank you for my bountiful harvest of love, insights and earthly, spiritual, and starlit energy I've received over the years from all of YOU.

So I say, Love to you all, and may you all be blessed with many things to be thankful for, all draped in health, love and happiness as well as a little snarkieness, just to let 2020 know it did not get the best of YOU and try as hard as it has, you are still thankful. :)

Larch Tree

You will emerge rested and wiser, rested and grounded, rested and ready for the next step

 

Larch Trees are part of the pine tree family and pine tree generally speaks of creativity, peace and harmony, but Larch also brings its own medicine and message beyond the generality of Pine.

Larch Trees can stand 40-100+ foot tall and though  they bring medicine like their fellow conifer pine tree,  Larch brings something a little different because it is also a deciduous tree, loosing its yellow needles in the fall.

This loosing of the needles, speaks to you, of, even though you loose your needles and you enter a rest time, does not mean you still don't stall tall and strong. This is a quality you do not loose with the medicine of Larch.

The fact Larch looses or sheds its needles, brings the message to you, it is time for you to rest, rejuvenate and reconnect. To take this time to allow yourself to drop or shed all those worries, weights and problems, and go within as well as reconnect to Earth.

It's been a busy year, mentally, emotionally and physically and as the yellow needles fall, it indicates as you allow your worries or burdens to fall and as you step into the dark, you will reconnect to Earth where you will feel safe, still strong,  and receive some well deserved rest.

The yellow needles not only represent your burdens and worries falling away but also represents you are taking the sun with you as you enter the stage of rest, thus always having access to the light. With this access to light,  when you decide to reemerge, you can bring the sun with you.

Because Larch Tree canopy is often sparse, this indicates to you, you have the abilities to see the larger picture and what the world  has to offer; not only around you but in you. Larch speaks of the ancestors of the whole world are at your disposal when needed, to you know what you need is not out of reach as it is always with you both above and at ground level.

Larch brings the message to you today,  you are entering new dimensions of thoughts, feelings and knowing. You can feel this happening and it's a bit scary from this new height of 'seeing', but Larch that grows to great heights is showing you with the heighten thoughts, feelings and knowing, and  the fact you can see a world that seems to be of spinning out of control, you are not to worry, as this more mature you is stronger and can connect to your core, the core of who you are and you will not spin out of control.

Your core is your soul, and your soul knows that though things have been a bit difficulties in many areas, that this has been only a moment in your time and that this time is passing.

Larch speaks to you today that it's time to drop your needles, rest, rejuvenate and reconnect to who you really are and as you reconnect to your core beliefs,  honor where you have been, let any wounds acquired along the way to heal, as they have made you stronger, wiser and better able to withstand winds of what ever comes.

Because Larch looses its needles over winter, indicates to you, embrace the dark, and allow this down time to show you your history; Not only your recent history but that of those from before you. Learn from theirs and your mistakes, look at the details, retrace your steps and then move forward knowing you will not make the same mistakes again.

Enter this time also knowing that any mistake were indeed not mistakes but paths to take you to the next intersection on your journey and by connecting to the wisdom and lessons of your 'mistakes' you have been made wiser.

Larch with its fallen needles of yellow, show you as you connect to Earth at this dark time, not to worry, for the sun is still there, and Larch, The Sun and Earth are all with you even as you rest to nurture your soul, mind and body until your are ready to regrow your new 'needles' and emerge back into the light. Once you 'open' your eyes after your rest, you see the better in it for taking the time to rest and connect to the Earth. 

Close your eyes, stand with Larch, watch its needles fall. Hear and feel the wisdom, the grounding, the Divine connection  of Larch and Mother Earth, and then 'hear' the wise words " Resting does not mean giving up. Resting is readying for the next part of your journey. Take your deserved Rest and be ready for the next step." 

Heed these  Wise words from Nature and Creator.

Creator says as a human 'being' this is Natural because deep in your being some how you know life on Earth for a while will be different than what we are all use to. Thus through Nature, He is here to let you know, it will all be OK. Hence comes Bird Nation with healing and a message to lift your spirit and show you that no matter what in life, your life, goes on, it will be good,  even with what has transpired over the past few weeks. Nature is here to show you this uplifting message and healing is no farther than a step out your front door or a look out a window and be witness to Bird Nation doing what it does. Living life to it's fullest no matter what the weather is outside. Bird Nation will lift your spirit by just watching them live their life, doing things like a Robin building her nest, and seeing one egg one day, 2 the next and 3 the next. Or your healing could come in watching a sparrow find a dry spot in the driveway even after the rains and so enjoy its dust bath, not thinking about it had to search for the dry spot but happy instead it found one.  Mother Nature is here to tell you, be still, watch and spend time with Bird Nation, no matter what bird comes to you or you go to,  and let your spirit be lifted whether it is  lifted with Downy Woodpecker, Grackle, Robin, Sparrow, Wren, Chickadee, Oriole, Humming bird, Swallow, Heron, Bluebird, any bird of the Bird  Nation that greets you today, tomorrow, or the next day and you connect with.    Know as you connect and watch any family member of the Bird Nation, they come to you right now with their medicine and messages, and it is in their  antics and how they do things, that this is just for you. As you connect, feel the warmth in your chest as the love the Bird Nation brings increases in your soul You will feel, spending time with many or one from Bird Nation, a motivation, to sing, walk, enjoy the day and see the positive that each day brings, even if it's raining as Robin shows you the rains bring ease to her day of gathering the earth worms she feeds her young.  Blue Bird will show you the ease of hunting bugs when humidity brings to her easier pickings as she feeds her young, thus seeing the positive in a humid day as well.   Spending any time with Bird Nation will make you smile inside and out, and release you of any dark and or worry from your heart. This is part of Bird Nations healing and peace they bring. This is a  special gift only Bird Nation can bring. A gift Creator gave to them to share with you. See and feel the love and sun in your life in the bright yellow of the Finch. Let nuthatch show you how to look at things from a different perspective. Let Hawk teach you how to look high and be patient. Let Dove sooth you with its song of comfort and bring you back to your faith. Spend some time with Bird Nation, no matter who you spend time with and allow them to share their wonderful healing energy and  'medicine' and you notably will feel better, feel peace, feel the knowing that even in the times of rains,  there are gifts that can come even from the rains. Bird Nation will show you, when you know what to look for these differences of each day, can give you ease of mind, clear negative emotions and integrate your Mind and Spirit. As the sun sets today be thankful for what you have today.

Come sunrise, be thankful for the new day

 If the new day is not the best day, at sunset  be thankful

there is a tomorrow; a chance to make it better, 

If today is a  good day be thankful you'll be

able to do it again come tomorrow.

Sunrise & Sunset

New Doorways ARE opening,
Give  thanks for
the new and the old day
 

Anyone who has watched a sunrise, knows it's  something special, but then again, one cannot deny there is something special in a sunset as well.
Each bringing something  very special to each day, but both always bringing hope.

It's fitting then at this time Nature brings the messengers Sunrise and Sunset, which speak of ends and beginnings and new hope twice a day. Because without the old day, there would be no new day. It's  without the new day growing and moving to be the old day, there would be no wisdom with age obtained, or chance to try again on a new day.

The universe gives you 3 times in one day, to be grateful and thankful. One for the day before, 2nd the day now and 3rd the day ahead. Whether the days are good or not so good, if you look closely each holds a certain magic, mystery and wisdom just for you and this is why Nature has brought both the sunrise and sunset and the energy of both.

Each sunrise,  opens a new door to learn something new, to see something new, to try something new and the sunset lets you take what the day brought to be thankful for something learned or wisdom gained. No matter if a big or little lesson or it was something glad or sad, each bringing something valid to you.

Then there is the time when sunrise meets sunset, or sunset meets sunrise, which are magical moments of tween times, offered by Nature to anyone who is there. A time where it all comes together for a magical moment and you have great insight on it all.

These tween times,  are Natures and Creators way of letting you walk through doors that historically are times of great manifestation, magic and understanding. Time where you can enter the new realms opening where  hope, magic, awe, wonder and love are connecting you to nature and Creator., thus bringing the Great Mystery, Creator,  into your life. A place where gratitude, peace and harmony can be found even when things are unsettled.

Each sunset, is a time at the end of the day where you can reflect on that day and decide what to keep, what helped and what did not help you on this journey called life. It is a time you can check in with yourself and be proud you have made it through another day of life, and gained wisdom and knowing of the things to keep and the lessons learned that make you a better version of you.

Before you say, "see you tomorrow" today, pick out what will serve you best tomorrow and take that to meet the sunrise of tomorrow so you can carry it through the day to be the best you can be

As today ends think of what did not do you good. Things such as,  anger, stress, strife, resentment, hate  and leave those behind as the day ends so tomorrow you can start fresh when you meet the sunrise, so as the door opens to a new day, you take with you only what benefited you the most and build your new day on that.

Then as the day comes to an end again, say thank you, that this new day gave you the wisdom and foresight to keep all the good you learned from each day before, and that which you kept helped you have a better day and a hopeful tomorrow.

Nature is letting you know, it is good to take advantage of every sunrise and sunset... It is the Universe giving you a chance to try again, with knowledge of the day before of what worked and didn't work, what made you feel at peace and what didn't.

With the new light of the sunrise it will let you see where you found love, peace and harmony with the universe and where you didn't. Take these times of magic to be thankful even if it's in just  that magical feeling of  sunrise and sunset, for you can build on those feelings.
 
Creator wants you to received all the magic of each sunrise and sunset for each day. So today, tonight and tomorrow give thanks for the blessings you have now, and for unknown blessings already on their way, for there in the thankfulness are all the magical possibilities awaiting
you within each Sunrise & Sunset.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter from our home to yours In a time of crisis is when we see our blessings more clearly in  our faith, family and friends and though many of us cannot be together with those we love, it's faith that will unite us with family and friends together in Spirit and love. It is faith and trust in our Savior that gives us the knowing this too shall pass and we'll soon be able to be together again. In the meantime be thankful for all that you have now. Do not focus on what isn't. Be thankful you live in a time of technology, because some how, some way, you can connect with others whether texting, emailing, face-timing, or a platform like Zoom and you can let them know you love them and are blessed with their presence in your life....one of the greatest Easter Gifts of all. Be thankful at this time of when so many see only the darkness, that you can see and know there is hope, there is love and amid the dark there is light. Isaiah 60:2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. This Easter, more than in a very long time, is when His glory will shine upon us and we will be thankful. More so then in a long time, many will see this light, glory and the many blessings. I say enjoy the blessings, that make up your life both small and large. Be joyful and happy in this moment in time and you will see and feel  the light and glory and the true meaning of the resurrection as we, and the world on this glorious day, start a resurrection of our own. The Thunderbird 

It is only from walking through the flames with Thunderbird, you will know the power, strength, wisdom and protection you have gained.

 

This week Creator has sent through Nature one of the most powerful Messengers; the  Thunderbird. 

It is fitting that Thunderbird with his lessons and protection is here now,  as we head towards the most Divine Resurrection of the season and the lessons of do not lose faith as you too will rise again.

The Thunderbird is symbolic of strength, power and protection and its message is incorporated in many different religions. It may have a  different name such as the Phoenix, the Russian Firebird, the Chinese Fèng Huáng, or the Japanese Hō-ō, or sometimes seen in the Eagle, but always the message is the same.

No matter what you choose to call the great Thunderbird it signifies eternal life through destruction, creation and fresh beginnings. And Creator wants you to know, though you may not see it, this is where you and the world are right now, on the verge of creation and a beginning. 

Thus this is the message the Thunderbird brings; have faith, you and the world will rise again and emerge from the ashes, not unscathed to some degree, but with greater power and more knowledge and wisdom about many things, including the power of self, others and your beliefs.

Like Thunderbird with the power of lightening at your wings, as you emerge from the fire and ashes of what looks like destruction, and in to the light, you will carry forever the light and power of the sun and the wisdom gained through these burning lessens of life and you will live more brilliantly and wiser than before.

Thunderbird is here to let you know that as you watch the world and yourself go through this great transformation, a transformation of fire energy, that once you fly, once you emerge from the fear and know you have survived, you will find as you walk among the ashes, you will see new growth, new ideas, new ways of doing things with a better knowledge of yourself in things you weren't sure you could do. It is there as you watch things grow from the ashes, you will know, you and the world will emerge more enlightened than ever before.

Thunderbird wants you to know, like Creator and  the Earth, you and the world will emerge through this cosmic fire, and rise again and be not only more enlightened but a wiser and better version than before.

So today, light a candle, look into the flame and see the energy of Thunderbird or walk in the sun and feel the energy of Thunderbird fill you and just have a 'knowing' you've made it through it.

Close your eyes and let Thunderbird come to you, look deep into his eyes, and allow his energy of life, death and resurrection infiltrate your soul and know then you are on the verge of rising from the ashes of this time frame on Earth.

Breathe deep in the breath of life and you too will know in your heart as you emerge you are better for having walked through the flames.

Archangel Uriel

The light is behind the clouds, you must be patient as you wait for the clouds to part 

Archangel Uriel (Light of God/Creator) is here to help you see the light of the day,  by shining the light of Creators wisdom on the  plans Creator has in store, even though you can't see a good plan in what's going on at this time.

This lack of being able to see the big picture may have you questioning your faith in HIM,  self, the world and those around you. Uriel is here to help you transform your recent disappointments into blessings.

Uriel is often depicted holding a book or scribes and is the keeper of the mysteries which are deep within the planet; mystery's we as humans do not understand and often ask why this, why that.

Uriel is considered the angel of the Earth and this is the reason why Creator has sent him now, to help you better navigate this course Earth is on now

Uriel is the patron of Ecology, the science of the whole Earth and the inter-relationship of all life upon it, as well as the collective consciousness. As we feel the world is spinning out of control, Creator has sent Archangel Uriel at this time to help ease your mind and help you see that this to shall pass, as does all things related to Earthly happenings.

Uriel will help you listen to that inner voice of wisdom as you ask you self, "Have I been listening to my own inner voice of wisdom; am I heeding my inner higher voice that knows what's best ? AM I connected to my  inner Divine light or that of the outside influences around me"?

Creator knows you've lost a bit of faith, as you ask why this, why now...what is the plan. 

Thus Archangel Uriel is here to give you back your faith, power and the wisdom to have faith and trust in the process and not let fears of what you do not understand to get in the way of Creators plan and your peace..

Uriel often comes with his light of illumination, when we humans need help to again become a collective consciousnesses, when we've traveled astray from who we should be and the ways of Mother Earth. He comes when we've lost the ability to see her abundance she provides to us every day, even just in a simple walk. Uriel is here to help us all take notice of what she gives us... again.

Uriel will you help stay calm as you sort through the tangled mess in your mind, as so much at this moment does not makes sense in the uncertainty in front of you.

Uriel reminds you of Noah and what he had to endure with no understanding of why. Uriel asks you,  ask yourself, do you think when Noah 'heard', "Build an Ark" he thought it a rational idea and understood why?

Don't you think Noah had thoughts, this makes no sense. But Noah followed what  was in his heart though it was was difficult; he listened, had faith, and trusted in Creators plan, and it was after he allowed his faith to guide him, he understood.

Archangel Uriel reminds you, it was he, that brought those events of trial and tribulation to Noah  from Creator and now Uriel is here for you, right now, at this time on Earth, telling you it is time for you to build your own ark of sorts, a way to stay afloat and survive..

But to do this you must listen to your heart,  trust in Creator and have faith, no matter how out there it may seem.

It's time for you to listen to that bright inner light of wisdom from Creator you carry. He knows you can hear HIM, it's just sometimes you choose not to listen, because the task seems to hard or takes you out of your comfort zone.

Archangel Uriel at this time is here to share with you,  his immense power, light, great wisdom, illumination and the power of the sun, so that you too understand better when you  receive divine guidance.

Uriel is bringing this powerful energy specifically at this time to those who will listen, as you would like to  understand this difficult shift of energy around the world.

Uriel is putting you in Noah's shoes, as he did not understand in the moment either. But by allowing and listening to his Divine inner guidance from Creator he got through it all. Did he falter and fail at times...yes, and so will you, but Uriel will help you get back on the track that is right.

Uriel will help you keep the faith to move on and then you'll understand. Will you understand everything? Probably not...but like Noah, you will know you have done and are doing as you should be.

Uriel is amber gold in color, thus he brings to you the gold rays of the  sun to help illuminate your thoughts, warm your body and create a better connection to Creator.

So on a sunny day, go out and  be in Nature, one the best ways to be closest to Creator,  close your eyes, be still, and allow the amber gold energy of Uriel's energy and Creators Love, to drape you in Divine wisdom and guide you. It is in this light you too will have that knowing that Noah had even though you cannot see the plan in full.
